South Africa: Technical Support to Three Municipalities in the North West Province

The objective of the assignment was to build and sustain the capacity of Public Finance Management Practitioners in the three pilot municipalities and to develop training resources for immediate use in the pilot and other municipalities. The specific objectives of the technical support were to review, improve and facilitate audit action plans to deal with weaknesses identified by the AG in management letters issued to municipalities; to develop sustainable and improved policies in identified financial management areas, practical and improved operating procedures in identified financial management areas; and develop training courses, linked to technical assistance advice and outputs, to be used in the three pilot municipalities and thereafter in other municipalities.
