Making change happen for trade and transport in Jordan

Jordan is an Arab wonder that has delighted visitors for centuries due to its world heritage sites, stunning desert landscapes and fascinating culture. Its location at the crossroads of the Middle East has served as a strategic nexus connecting Asia, Africa and Europe. Facilitating trade and transport in Jordan has proven to contribute to the stability and socio-economic development in the region. After 22 months of work in 17 intermittent missions, we are glad to announce the successful closure of one of our projects in Jordan aimed at providing support to the Executive Secretariat for Trade and Transport Facilitation.

Trade and transport with and through Jordan’s neighbouring states - Israel, West Bank, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt (through the ferry link between Aqaba and Nuweiba) - are strategic for the region and are undergoing permanent changes due to the unstable socio-political environment. Several efforts needed to be done in order to enhance relevant institutional setup. All requested activities were carried out successfully by providing technical assistance for the enhancement of the operational framework, promoting public-private cooperation and implementing a trade and transport facilitation strategy and annual action plans.

At the end of this project, we are confident that our efforts have made a tangible contribution to the process of trade and transport facilitation in Jordan, thus supporting the economic development of the country even further. We want to thank our team and all involved stakeholders for making this happen.
