New project awarded: making ideas happen in Tunisia

Tunisia, best known for its golden beaches, sunny weather and warm people, has also experienced profound political, institutional and economic changes since 2011. Although, the adoption of a new constitution and democratic elections were major milestones in the establishment of new democratic institutions, the region continues to face significant socio-economic and regional disparities, particularly in middle and southern areas. This regional geopolitical situation has also an impact on macroeconomic stability; this is why it is essential to promote a culture of responsibility and accountability of public authorities, based on respect for human rights and the rule of law.

In 2015, the support program for the reform and modernization of the security of the Republic of Tunisia was signed with the purpose of reorganizing governmental structures and establishing new democratic practices and processes.

We are glad to announce that we will implement the Technical Assistance Mission to start the program to support the reform and modernization of the security sector of the Republic of Tunisia in coordination and cooperation with beneficiaries and stakeholders. We shall contribute to the mission implementation through the top-level expertise of Mr. Didier Laumont, a security sector reform expert with more than 40 years of professional experience in international security, institutional reforms and modernization of the security sector.

Assisting the National Program Coordinator (NPC) / Ministry of Interior in starting the program, supporting the development and drafting of programming documents as well as the establishment of the organizational structure of the program are crucial to introduce new governance mechanisms in Tunisia. We are aware of the responsibility ahead and want to thank our team and the local authorities to let us start this important endeavor. At ATC, we make ideas happen.
